Week 2
This I did a lot work on ring designs and seeing what I can make with the materials I have at home. The rings I'm making are wire rings, since I have a lot of extra material from my jewelry making class. I attempted a lot of different rings from youtube tutorials, but the ones I'm thinking of selling are the rose wire wrapped ones, and the wire bead designs. I think that one of the most challenging things for me has been measuring the correct amount of wire for each ring, so there aren't an excess amount of little wires. As well as making sure the wires don't get too bent out of shape where it becomes unmanageable. On my last post I got a question from asking about our groups design process and to answer that it's pretty open ended. We each have different ideas that we bring to the table and different aesthetics for our clothes, so we don't necessarily have a cohesive them for all of our designs. We work more as a collective and most of brainstorming is us bouncing ideas off of one another. Also to answer my other question about material, as I mentioned earlier my rings are made from copper wire. However for screen printing we're using mesh screens, fabric paint, and clothes form our closet or that we bought for out designs.
Here are some rose wire rings from this week. The ring on the right is a more abstract version and the left one is the typical design.
The rings are looking good! I appreciate the presentation on top of the ceramic pot - the pot and the wood background help the rings look really enticing.
ReplyDeleteHi Divine, These are great pieces! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with screen printing. You had mentioned in a previous post that you were thinking about how to price your items. What are you doing to figure this out?
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are getting to use those supplies and making BEAUTIFUL things!
